Kassandra Xanthopoulou graduated from the School of Medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2016.
She completed her residency in ophthalmology and worked as a specialist at the University ophthalmology clinic in Saarland, in Homburg/Saar, Germany, under the direction of Professor Berthold Seitz, where she gained significant experience in the management of corneal disorders, ocular inflammation, ultrasound examination of the anterior and posterior segments, and confocal microscopy.
She holds a PhD from the University of Saarland and has published extensively in international journals, whilst maintaining an active presence at international conferences.
Since 2022, she has been a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO); since 2023, a Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO); and since 2025, a Fellow of the Ophthalmology Foundation (FIOF).
In 2023 she served for one year at the State Ophthalmology Department of the General State Gennimatas Hospital.
In 2024, she completed a certification programme in ocular ultrasound under Professor Karl Ossoinig.
In 2026, she completes postgraduate studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on the subject of ‘management of refractive errors and refractive surgery’.
