The PRK technique uses a laser beam to reshape the cornea\u2019s anterior surface, after the removal of the epithelium layer and the basic membrane.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-866\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eyedayclinic.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/prk-procedure-1.jpg\" alt=\"prk-procedure\" width=\"600\" height=\"283\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Postoperative treatment and Monitoring<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After the surgical procedure, antibiotic drops, steroidal and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are instilled to the eye which is then covered with a therapeutic contact lens. In the first 24 hours, the patient may experience pain, which can be reduced by taking oral analgesics. The epithelium that was removed is regenerated in 48-72 hours\u00a0and the therapeutic lens is removed after 7 days.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-865\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eyedayclinic.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/prk-procedure.jpg\" alt=\"prk procedure\" width=\"282\" height=\"223\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>INFO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The PRK method can be used in patients who are not suitable for Femto LASIK.
